What is the OMC?

The On-Mission Celebration is a special event hosted by the Turner Baptist Association, bringing together missionaries from the International Mission Board (IMB), the North American Mission Board (NAMB), and the Georgia Baptist Mission Board (GBMB). The purpose is to give local churches the opportunity to connect with missionaries, hear their stories, and be encouraged to live “on mission” at home and around the world.

Throughout the weekend, churches and individuals can participate in a variety of activities:

Missionary Encounters – Missionaries from each group will share their experiences and ministries during different sessions.

Children’s & Youth Mission Fair (Saturday morning) – A hands-on event where kids and students can meet missionaries and learn about global missions in fun, interactive ways.

Saturday Night Supper – Churches gather at host sites to share a meal and hear from missionaries in a smaller setting.

Sunday Opportunities – Churches may host a missionary to speak in Sunday School and again during the morning worship service.

Final Celebration (Sunday evening) – Everyone gathers for a closing dinner and service where missionaries once again share testimonies of God’s work.

In short, the On-Mission Celebration is a weekend designed to inspire, encourage, and mobilize believers by providing them with a personal connection to those serving on the mission field, both locally and globally.

How can I ensure my church is participating?

Ensure your pastor has spoken with an OMC team member and informed them that your church would like to participate. If you have any questions, contact Martha Ann at macarter8@gmail.com or Jonathan Perry at jonathanperry@fbcashburn.com.

Weekend Schedule

Friday, January 30, 2026

The On-Mission Celebration will begin on Friday evening at 6:00 PM at First Baptist Church Of Ashburn, with a special banquet for missionaries and church leadership. This gathering will include all of the missionaries, along with pastors and their wives, WMU leaders, men’s ministry leaders, and the On-Mission Celebration team members. The evening will be a time of fellowship and introductions, allowing everyone to get acquainted before the weekend begins. During the banquet, the weekend schedule will be reviewed, and missionaries will be connected with the churches where they will be serving. This kickoff event sets the tone for a weekend of encouragement, partnership, and mission focus.

Saturday, January 31, 2026

Mission Fair (10:00 AM) On Saturday from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Bethel, everyone is invited to attend the Mission Fair, with a special focus on children and youth. This will be a hands-on, family-friendly event where participants can meet and talk with the missionaries serving through the International Mission Board, North American Mission Board, and Georgia Baptist Mission Board. Missionaries will have displays set up to share information about their ministries and answer questions, helping both kids and adults see how God is working around the world. A hotdog and hamburger cookout will also be provided, giving everyone a chance to enjoy a meal together while connecting with the missionaries in a relaxed setting. The Mission Fair is a wonderful way for people of all ages to learn more about missions and be inspired to live out their mission here at home.

Saturday Evening Fellowship (5:00 PM)

On Saturday evening, churches will come together in small area groups of 5 different congregations for a special time of fellowship and missions focus. Supper will begin at 5:00 PM, followed by a program at 6:00 PM hosted by the designated church in each group. Each gathering will include 3–5 missionaries, who will share their testimonies, ministry experiences, and displays. While the structure of the evening may vary from group to group, the heart of the event is the same: enjoying a meal together, building relationships, and hearing firsthand how God is at work through His people around the world. These smaller settings enable closer interaction with the missionaries and provide churches with the opportunity to be encouraged and challenged together in their mission involvement.

Sunday Morning – Missionary Speakers in Our Churches

On Sunday morning, missionaries will be sharing in our local churches. Each church will host up to two speakers, one during Sunday School and one during the Worship Service. This is a wonderful opportunity for congregations to hear firsthand how God is at work around the world.

Sunday Evening – Association-Wide Rally at Bethel

All of our churches will come together at Bethel Baptist for a special evening of fellowship and worship. Supper will be served at 5:00 p.m., followed by a Mission Rally at 6:00 p.m. Join us as we celebrate what God is doing through His people and hear inspiring reports from our missionaries.
